Motorola CLIQ hits Ebay

October 6th, 2009 Ben Marvin 3 comments

Hungry for the new Motorola CLIQ and don’t wanna wait for it to actually be on sale? Well, it isn’t your lucky day, because one lucky person already scored their new Moto CLIQ from Ebay. And they had to dish out $799 for that honor, well over the retail price. What do you guys think? Is it worth the hundreds of dollars over retail just to be able to say you were the first person to get one?

Personally, I can wait. Maybe if I was told the phone wouldn’t come out till next year sometime it might be worth it, but a few more weeks isn’t going to make much of a difference.

Motorola CLIQ starts popping up for preorders

September 26th, 2009 Ben Marvin No comments

Just barely out of the gates of its announcement, the Motorola CLIQ bound for T-Mobile has already popped up on at least one cell phone retailer website for preorder. Mobile City Online already has the CLIQ listed for preorders. And confusing enough, for $699 or $599. We’ll have to see how close that actually comes to the price T-Mobile will be charging. But you can expect it’s at least 30% higher than it should be, just because they can.

Rumor: CLIQ to launch on TMO US on November 11th

September 17th, 2009 Ben Marvin No comments

BGR got word that the T-Mobile release date for the Motorola CLIQ could be November 11th. Still just a rumor at this point, but seems logical for a late October pre-sale. Still nothing solid on pricing though. We’ll keep you posting as the details are revealed.

Motorola CLIQ to launch in October on T-Mobile

According to this somewhat old internal slide that BGR got their hands on, the Motorola CLIQ will be launching very soon, probably next month. Although it shows the CLIQ under November, we know that the Blackberry 8520 is already launched, so they’re a little ahead of schedule. We can also see the Hauwei slated for release around the same time as the CLIQ. Considering the CLIQ is already on the T-Mobile website, it won’t be long before they’re taking preorders. Hopefully we’ll get confirmation on pricing soon, it’s being speculated anywhere from free with a 2 year contract up to $199 on contract.

Here’s just a quick video showing of some of the features of the new Motorola CLIQ from the Mobilize conference yesterday. Even if you can’t go to conferences yourself, you always know someone will be there with a video camera.

Motorola unveils the CLIQ and MOTOBLUR: First looks

September 11th, 2009 Ben Marvin No comments

Yesterday Motorola announced their new handset, the CLIQ which is coming to T-Mobile. But more important than the phone itself is the skin that it runs on top of Android, called MOTOBLUR. Akin to other offerings from Palm and HTC, MOTOBLUR brings together your contacts and social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, and last.fm into one seamless information center. The jury’s still on how well it works with Android and how it compares to other software.

The handset, the Motorola CLIQ, also know as the DEXT outside the US is very similar to the spy pictures we saw of the handset known as the Morrison. Featuring a 3.1 inch capacitive touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, they also opted for a directional keypad instead of the trackball on other Android phones. It will be Motorola’s first Android phone and the third Android for T-Mobile, behind the T-Mobile G1 and the myTouch 3G. The CLIQ has a 5MP camera that can record video at 24fps, onboard GPS, and a much welcomed 3.5mm headphone jack. Although it’s being shown off as having a thin profile, it’s 0.64 inches thick, a hair thicker than the G1′s 0.62 inch thickness.

The Motorola CLIQ is already on T-Mobile.com as “Coming Soon” and the rumored pricing will be free on contract, or $399 outright. And it will be available in 2 colors, Winter White or Midnight Titanium.
