The latest Ice Cream Sandwich builds for the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX have been leaked out. Build number 6.14.84 is the version number, and it’s most likely not a final release, just another incremental testing version. A few bugs still remain and we’re expecting more changes before Verizon approves a final build.

According to the leaked screenshots of Verizon’s software release schedule, the RAZR and MAXX are in firmware testing till May 17th, with the final upgrade due on May 21st. But if you don’t think you can wait that long, hit up the source link for downloads and instructions for updating the the latest available build.

UPDATE: The download links have been pulled since many users are reporting they are not able to flash back to the previous stable firmware.

The HTC Incredible 4G, also known as the HTC Fireball, has been on our radar for a while now, but there’s been not much information about it other than a few leaks here and there. Today we’re treated to some blurry shots of the device in the wild, a leaked device render image, and more information about the hardware.

As you can see, the Incredible 4G carries the same signature look of the original Incredible and Incredible 2. But in addition to knowing what it looks like, we also have most of the specs:

4-Inch display (unconfirmed)

qHD resolution

1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor

1GB RAM

8GB built-in storage, microSD card slot

8MP rear shooter with zero shutter lag, VGA front camera

NFC

MHL

Beats Audio

LTE

Android 4.0 with Sense 4

From the obvious Verizon branding, we know which carrier it’s headed to. As much as we would all like this to be part of HTC’s new One series phones, it’s just not so. The smaller screen and plastic exterior of the Incredible 4G just don’t match up to the flagship specs on the One X and One S, headed to AT&T and T-Mobile respectively.

The official render of the Incredible 4G has also been leaked out to the web today:

[Android Police] [PocketNow]

Sure, it could be an early April Fool’s joke, but probably not. It looks like owners of the Motorola RAZR, RAZR MAXX and HTC Rezound could be getting an upgrade treat as early as next week.

If the above screenshot is to be believed, according to Best Buy, Verizon will be pushing out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Motorola RAZR family on April 4th, and for the HTC Rezound on April 6th. Of course, we always take leaks like these with a grain of salt, anything could change or the information could be outdated. Guess we’ll just have to wait till the next week to find out.

We’ve already seen our fair share of various renders and supposed leaks of the Galaxy S III, although none of those were very credible. And we’ve also seen the model number GT-i9300 on Samsung’s website as well as other places, and the naming made sense that it would be Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S III.

However now that we have a picture of what appears to be the GT-i9300, it doesn’t exactly look like a Galaxy S III should. Of course, we don’t know what the SGS3 looks like, but what we have here appears to be more of a mid-range device, not a sleek high-end handset with a huge screen and top specs.

This device is clearly running Android 4.0 and sports on-screen buttons instead of capacitive ones. Another interesting thing to point out is that the S-Note and S-Planner apps are present, which makes us wonder if it will be a device like the Galaxy Note and packaged with the S-Pen stylus.

This could actually be the Galaxy S III, but we would be surprised if it is.

We’ve been hearing about the rumored Motorola Droid Fighter for a while now and we’re finally seeing some images of the device. At first glance it looks very much like the RAZR, which it’s pictured beside. The notable differences being the larger screen, most likely 4.6 inches and HD resolution. As well as the lack of capacitive touch keys (replaced with a giant Verizon logo), Motorola opting for on-screen controls instead.

There’s also word that it could have a large 3300mAh battery like the Droid RAZR Maxx. And if the rumors are to be believed, it could be seeing it as soon as mid-April.

A couple weeks ago was the last time we saw an Ice Cream Sandwich build for the international Galaxy S II leak out. And now there’s a new one, build number I9100XXLPH. It’s still Android 4.0.3 based with TouchWiz on top, and the build date was Feb 9th. Early reports are indicating that it’s a bit snappier with better battery life than the previous leaked version. SamMobile was kind enough to give a side-by-side comparison to the previous build:

Interface: Kind of 3D effect when scrolling.

Battery: Lot better than early ones.

Faster: Feels the same as LPB

Touch: Not so good as LPB.

Overall: Better score in our eyes than LPB .

Facelock: Same as LPB working fine.

Task: Same as version LPB.

We’re drawing ever closer to an actual official public release of Android 4.0 for the Galaxy S II, most likely in the next couple weeks. But for those of you that aren’t patient enough to wait can flash this on your I9100 and play around with it early. Head over to the source link for downloads and instructions. And if you happen to try this out, drop us a line in the comments and let us know how it’s working for you.

It was about a month ago when we first saw some Ice Cream Sandwich builds leak out for the Samsung Galaxy S II i9100. Now there’s a new one out. The latest is build I9100XXLPB and it’s Android 4.0.3 based, complete with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface so there’s not much visual change from Gingerbread ROMs. Those with the international SGS2 that have tried it out say it offers better battery life from previous builds, along with some 3D effects, faster speeds and general better performance.

We have yet to see any builds out for the Galaxy S II variations here in the US, but hopefully they’ll be coming along soon, since we know Samsung is working on it. If you have the i9100, feel free to hit up the source link for downloads and let us know how you like the latest firmware.

The same cycle seems to happen with every major phone release. First the leaks come out and we learn about the a hardware, then more details are confirmed. Then perhaps the phone is announced or fully revealed. Then if the release date wasn’t announced, the blogs go round and round with speculation and rumors about dates. Screenshots are posted, theories are bounced around. Until eventually the release date is announced or the phone comes out. Remember when the Thunderbolt was announced till the time it took for it to be finally released? How about the extended time between when the Droid Bionic was announced, then the hardware was changed, then it was finally released?

And now the same thing is happening with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Before the Nexus was officially announced, most everybody was thinking November 10th for a Verizon release date. After all, we heard way back it was coming late October, early November. Then we never got a release date during the official announcement and the rumors started to fly. Some speculated Verizon wouldn’t get the phone at all, then they announced it and that was laid to rest. Then the Nov 10th date seemed to be out the window. A Verizon marketing roadmap had the blogs saying it might be out after Black Friday. Then here comes some screenshots saying Nove 17th is the release date. Yes, we realize it’s a highly anticipated phone. And yes, we know that many blog readers want to hear as much as they can about it. We occasionally publish this sort of information even though most of it is baseless. The blogger’s job is to provide information and analysis and let the reader decide. But there comes a point where it just becomes too much noise and not enough information.

You may have seen our post yesterday titled “Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus official release date“. So did a lot of other people. No need to go look at it, the only information there is that there has been no official release date announced. No rumors, no BS, no speculation. It actually pissed a lot of people off. Maybe they thought it was just linkbait and were mad they fell for it. Or maybe they just didn’t like the point of the post. This editorial is expanding on that idea and it’s something that needed to be said. Would you really get the phone any faster if you knew what date it would be released? Of course not, that would be silly. What if the release date was next month? Sure, it would give plenty of people time to complain and moan, but you still wouldn’t get the phone any faster.

The point I’m trying to get at is that knowing a release date doesn’t matter in the long run. It’s just as bad to spread around every little shred of a rumor of a date. Yes, it’s fun to speculate and nice to know information before the general public. Heck, it even generates more buzz about the phone and gets others interested, which can be good for a product. But there comes a point when it just becomes a circlejerk of screenshots and misinformation. When we hear an official date from Verizon, we’ll be sure to let you know. Until then, we’re going to hold back on publishing every single rumor out there.

Are you one of those people that just absolutely has to know the release date of a phone? Either way we’d like to hear your thoughts in the comments.
