Although it’s been spotted in the wild before, there’s still a lot of unknowns about the HTC Vigor. It’s the handset that’s said to replace the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon, and the last leaked roadmap pointed to an October 5th release date. The Vigor has recently taken a trip through the FCC, and we can 100% confirm Verizon’s 4G LTE on board, as well as CDMA/EVDO support.

Other rumored specs of the HTC Vigor include a 4.3 inch 720p HD 1,280×720 resolution display, 1.5Ghz dual-core CPU with a Qualcomm Adreno GPU, 1GB RAM, Android 2.3.4, 16GB storage. It’s also said to be one of the first HTC handsets to include integrated Beats Audio technology. If all this turns out to be true, the Droid Bionic will have some healthy competition from HTC.

T-Mobile said they were bringing on the tablets, and here they come. Today at CES 2011, T-Mobile announced their first HSPA+ tablet, the Dell Streak 7. Launching with Android 2.2, the Streak 7 will feature a 7 inch screen (duh) with Gorilla Glass, dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 under the hood packing 1GHz to each core, and of course, support for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network with theoretical top speeds of 21Mbps down. You also get 16GB of onboard memory, a 5MP camera in back and a 1.3MP camera up front.

If this thing has the ability to make phone calls, I’d almost consider replacing my phone with this.

T-Mobile Doubles the Speed of America’s Largest 4G Network and Introduces Its First 4G Tablet: the Dell Streak 7

LAS VEGAS, Nev. and BELLEVUE, Wash. — Jan. 6, 2011 — Today at the 2011 International CES, T-Mobile USA CEO and President Philipp Humm highlighted the company’s network leadership, supported by Nielsen data confirming that T-Mobile delivered the fastest wireless data performance in the top 100 U.S. markets during the second half of 2010.¹ In addition, Hummannounced the nationwide availability of T-Mobile’s 4G network, now reaching approximately 200 million people in 100 major metropolitan areas.

T-Mobile also unveiled plans to double the speed of its 4G network this year, which will be capable of delivering peak download speeds of up to 42 Mbps. Moreover, the company announced that in 2011 it will launch at least 25 new 4G devices, starting with its first 4G tablet — the Dell™ Streak 7, expected to be available at T-Mobile stores across the country in the coming weeks. The company vowed to aggressively expand and evolve its 4G smartphone portfolio, launching additional devices capable of delivering peak download speeds of up to 21 Mbps in the first half of 2011, and smartphones capable of delivering peak download speeds of up to 42 Mbps in the second half of the year.

The cutting-edge download speed was demonstrated today by company representatives using a T-Mobile laptop stick developed by ZTE, capable of delivering peak download speeds of up to 42 Mbps and slated to launch in the first half of 2011. By doubling the speed of its 4G network, T-Mobile will offer its customers an unprecedented wireless experience, fueled by improved performance in the use of rich media applications, including creating and sharing mobile content, streaming video, and participating in multi-player gaming and videoconferencing.

The company expects 140 million Americans in 25 metro areas to have access to these increased 4G speeds by mid-2011. T-Mobile’s enhanced speed capabilities will also benefit its customers using existing 3G devices for data services, as the backward-compatible network enables 3G devices to achieve their maximum speed performance.

Just another tidbit of great news for Sprint users that are fans of Android. The HTC Hero just passed FCC approval with CDMA/EVDO, which Sprint and Verizon use. Along with all the other evidence, we’re now just waiting for an announcement from Sprint or HTC. The rumored release date is still October 11th, along with the Samsung InstinctQ. With this, the HTC Hero may be the most widespread Android phone, with at least 4 carriers as of right now. We’re still waiting to hear more about the Hero with AT&T 3G bands that skated through the FCC nearly 2 months ago.
