This is the Sunno S880 a new smart phone headed to China around the middle of October. What makes is unique is that it will be running Android and Windows Mobile. It’s unclear if it’s a dual-boot configuration or simultaneous running of both OSes. Specs include a 806MHz processor, 8-MP camera, 3.6″ WVGA display, GPS navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity and 128MB or 256MB RAM. No word on if this will be coming to Europe or North America, but you can bet people will at least be talking about it.

Dell unveils Android based Mini 3i for China only

August 17th, 2009 Ben Marvin No comments

The so called Dell Mini 3i was unveiled at a live demonstration in China today. And we’re seeing the first decent shots of Dell’s entry into the Android smartphone market. Don’t get too excited yet, it’s only coming to China as far as we know. Specs include a 360×640 3.5 inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, GPS, 3MP camera (with a flash), 950mAh battery, MicroSD slot, and no 3G. And it will be running the Android-derived “OPhone 1.0″ OS, aka Open Mobile System, which is more or less China Mobile’s flavor of Android.

It’s a fine looking piece of hardware, but the specs are meager. Lets hope Dell has something to bring to the North American and European markets sometime soon. Hit the link for more shots.

Haier Shows Off the H7 Android Handset

June 17th, 2009 Ben Marvin No comments

What we have here is the H7, from Chinese manufacturer Haier shown off at their booth at CommunicAsia 2009. Featuring a 2.8-inch touch-screen display, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, FM radio, GPS, and a 2-MP camera with “onboard flashlight”. The picture above is just a non-working mockup, so no word on how it compares to HTC or Samsung handsets. The H7 is supposed to cost about $150 when it’s launched in France in September.

Anyone else notice a trend of new Android handsets looking nearly the same?

Is This Dell’s Smartphone Running Android?

June 15th, 2009 Ben Marvin 1 comment

Quite possibly a fake, given all the copycat and knockoff phones to come out of China, but Engadget got their hands on this blurry shot of what would appear to be a prototype Dell smartphone. And all I can tell from the translated forum post is that it’s a prototype and it has a capacitive touchscreen. Looks almost like a button-less version of the HTC Magic, but the familiar status bar at the top is distinctly Android. If the current rumors are true that Dell is launching their line of smartphones in China due to no US carriers getting excited about them, then it’s unlikely we’ll ever see it.
