WhosHere launches location-based mobile social discovery app for Android

WhosHere has just launched their app in the Google Play Store and Amazon AppStore, calling themselves “the first location-based mobile social discovery app.” Another way to thing about it would be Grindr, but not just for gay men.

The WhosHere app “connects users with similar interests and within close proximity of each other and communicate via texts, picture messages, and voice calls” without ever releasing personal information and without all the friend requests and complication of FourSquare or Facebook.

“There’s been a groundswell of interest in WhosHere for Android ever since Google launched the Nexus One in January 2010,” said WhosHere CEO and co-founder Bryant Harris. “We are 100 percent committed to our community of users and it is only fitting to expand the platforms we support. WhosHere’s availability on Android expands our reach and unlocks a new universe of connections for users.”

The app is free and now available for devices running Android 2.2 or higher.
