Amazon’s 7 inch Kindle Fire tablet is already a best seller, moving reportedly millions of units. There have been rumors about larger tablets from Amazon since even before the Kindle Fire was announced. And according to the DigiTimes, the rumors are about to come true. Sources from component manufacturers say Amazon is purchasing 8.9 and 10.1 inch displays, possibly for upcoming tablets. The 8.9 inch model is said to be landing around the second quarter of 2012, and a 10.1 inch model sometime thereafter. There’s no telling if these larger tablets will be similar to the Kindle Fire in terms of software and minimalist hardware. But either way Amazon has the existing ecosystem to move hardware for the sake of pushing ebooks, music, videos and apps to customers.
