Motorola confirms XOOM tablet will get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update

After the Ice Cream Sandwich announcement, one of the first things on everyone’s mind is if their device will get the update. Motorola XOOM owners can rest easy, you will be getting the update, but no timing has been announced yet. Matt, forums manager over at the Motorola Owners Forum has confirmed in a post they will be updating the XOOM to Android 4.0:

I don’t know anything about if it will be first or not — have no insight into how other manufacturers do updates — but Xoom will get ICS. I just don’t have any timing to share.

The Motorola XOOM was the first tablet with Honeycomb and the hardware isn’t outdated at all, it shouldn’t be that hard of an upgrade to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to it. Let’s hope it happens before the end of the year.
