It seems Sony is stepping up the game on other Android media players with the Walkman Z. While most media players are simply midrange Android phones without the phone part, the Z actually has some nice specs behind it. It’s powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1.0 Ghz processor, 4.3″ WVGA display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Wi-Fi, HDMI-Out, FM radio, and a battery good for 20 hours of audio or 5 hours of video.
The Walkman Z will be available in red or black and is expected to hit Japan at the end of the year and see a larger release after that. Initial pricing was announced as 16GB for $360, a 32GB model as well as a 64GB version for around $550.
