When the Motorola Atrix first came out there might have been a bit more truth to the claim, but Motorola has continued to advertise the Atrix as the “world’s most powerful smartphone”. Some viewers have filed complaints with the UK Advertising Standards Authority saying the ad in question was misleading. The Samsung Galaxy S II has be cited for comparison, having a 1.2Ghz processor compared to the 1Ghz found in the Atrix. Motorola tried to fight back claiming they were saying “powerful” in the sense it could drive various devices such as the HD and laptop docks, but it was fruitless. The ASA found Motorola was in violation of 4 different rules including misleading advertising, substantiation, exaggeration and comparisons. Therefore the ad in question must not appear again and Motorola should refrain from using the term “world’s most powerful” in reference to the Atrix. What do you think? Take a look at the video in question and judge for yourself.
