The Walkman sure has come a long way from being just a cassette tape player.
Without much fanfare or even a press release, the Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman product page has popped up on their website. Essentially it’s a reworked Xperia X8 with a bit of a facelift, but the resemblance is obvious. It’s running Android 2.1 with a custom overlay, and like its counterpart, features a 3-inch display, 3.2MP camera and 3.5mm headphone jack. Storage is limited to only a 16GB microSD card, but that should be enough for most people. Android Market access is included, and you get 3G and WiFi connectivity.
The W8 Walkman will be available in many Asian countries in Q2 of 2011 in three different colors, Azure Blue, Metallic Red and Walkman Orange.
