Google has released the latest stats on OS version distribution showing that 43.4% of devices now run Froyo, with Eclair coming in second at 39.6%. The data represents API activity in the two weeks previous to December 1st. It’s interesting to note that the tiny slice of the pie labeled “Other” represents 0.1% of devices running an obsolete version, or lower than Cupcake.
Android 2.2 has been on a steady climb to overtake previous versions since its initial jump during August. With more and more devices launching and being sold with 2.2 preloaded, it will be a short matter of time before it’s running a majority of devices.
