LG announces the Android powered GW620, aka the Etna

Although we saw it last week being shown off at a trade show in Germany, LG officially announces the LG GW620, also known as the Etna. Featuring a 3-inch HVGA touchscreen, 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and bluetooth, as well as a slideout 5-row QWERTY keyboard. The Etna is set to launch before the end of the year in Europe, no word on if and when it’s coming to North America.

I know all these screenshots are faked anyway, but anyone else notice the application in the second picture? Appears to be an official Facebook app, but not the one that’s currently out. Either LG just made it up to what they think the Facebook app would look like or there’s something better around the corner. Just a rumor though.

Overall I think this is a great looking piece of hardware. It’s great to see the CLIQ and the Etna coming join the year old HTC Dream in the QWERTY department. And I can honestly say, this is the first LG phone I have ever considered buying.
