This is the Huawei U8230, a rather unsexy name to a very sexy looking handset. The latest handset from Chinese phone manufacturer Huawei, and a gorgeous addition to the world of Android. Featuring a 3.5″ LCD touchscreen, 3.2MP camera, and a rather average 1500mAH battery, also no physical QWERTY. From the photos it looks to be one of the thinnest Android smart phones yet. It’s also reported it will have onscreen full QWERTY or half-QWERTY, so we can speculate this will be running some custom firmware, not unlike what HTC has been doing with their Android firmware. And is that a front-facing camera we spy?
Spokesperson for Huawei Glory Chueng says:
“Having joined the Open Handset Alliance in 2008, Huawei is rapidly moving forward with the development of cutting-edge high-end handsets, especially smartphones powered by Android and Windows Mobile operating systems… The U8230 and the C8000 handsets on display here at CommunicAsia take the interactivity experience of smartphones to a whole new level and Huawei is looking forward to working with our customers to bring them to market later this year.”
We’ll be waiting patiently for more details to emerge on this and other Huawei Android handsets. No word on pricing, but the U8230 can be expected to his Europe and possibly Asia before the end of the year.
