QOTD: What Is The Perfect Android Hardware?

There’s a wide variety of hardware in the smartphone market today. Different form-factors ranging from the nearly burronless iPhone, to the monoblock candybars of RIM and HTC, vertical sliders, horizontal sliders. Then throw in a slew of options, GPS, Wifi, touchscreen, compass, QWERTY keyboard, bluetooth, SD card or internal memory, 3, 5, 8 megapixel cameras. And even specialty features like fingerprint readers. And with Android being designed to run on anything from a netbooks to maybe even your car. What about an Android-powered refrigerator?

So the Question Of The Day is: What is your idea of the perfect Android hardware?

Not that it is the ultimate, but where are the phone-less android devices? Something like the ipod touch, but with android. Much thinner and with a slightly bigger screen. Foldout keyboard with cupcake isn’t necessary as long as the screen is big enough for my thumbs.

The perfect hardware right now though would probably be a dual-core atom with a couple gigs of ram and a nice fast solid state drive. And maybe a 7 to 9 in screen mounted in the dash of my vehicle :)

Oh and when booted up it would start broadcasting something encrypted over bluetooth or wifi that an app on my phone was listening for, and it would automatically start to tether, so that I don’t need a separate data plan.

My perfect device would be a HTC Magic (G2) with more memory and a much better battery that lasts at least for one week with full use of its functionalities. Now I have a low battery profile (no gps, no location, no 3g, no gprs) to make it last 1-2 days.

My perfect android device would be a phone with PSP size and have a un-slip keyboard.

Anything involving 3G and AT&T. Something with a keyboard that feels like a BlackBerry 8700, full VGA touchscreen…

Here is a link for ‘refrigerator-like’ devices. In other words, non-cell phone device running Android. Can build anything out of it. Price is pretty good as well ($69 without LCD). http://www.mini-box.com/pico-SAM9G45-X
