Leaked Slide Showing HTC Lancaster QWERTY Slider Coming To AT&T

The guys over at Engadget got their hands on some juicy shots of the new HTC Lancaster, a QWERTY slider coming to AT&T with a proposed launch date of August 3rd, which is yet to be confirmed. The mention of the “Unique HTC Social Messaging User Interface” and the note at the bottom about “AT&T standard UI” indicates that it will come with some special goodies instead of the standard Google-issue Android build. Although the presence of the one-touch Search button does say that it will still be very Google. Other than that, the specs are pretty normal for a smartphone. Touchscreen, 3MP camera (Without a flash? Why is this the new trend?), Bluetooth 2.0 and all that in the very HTC-looking package.

Hate it? I love it. We can only hope Android will become more popular than Windows Mobile.

Hate it? I love the fact that more people are jumping on the android band wagon it means that the OS will upgrade quicker once it is on more carriers and on more phones it will also mean that we should get much better handsets because as much as I love my g1 it’s really a pretty crappy device and the “magic” is going to be even worse because it’s just a g1 while taking away the “1″ really good part of the G1 (well other than Android of course).

So what you’re saying is that the Lancaster will be a US-only 3G device, because I didn’t see 2100Mhz anywhere in those specs. SO if I travel anywhere, I’m relegated back to EDGE ? Ennngh……wrong answer.

    Nice styling, though.
