Official US Version Of Cupcake Android 1.5 Found, Upgrade NOW!

Fresh from a post over at xda-developers, someone got the link to the US version of Cupcake. Get it now, while it’s hot. You can download it here. No more waiting for the T-Mobile OTA update, this is the real thing.
As always, here’s how to apply the update:
2. Rename it to update.zip, and place it at the root (the very top directory) of your Micro SD card. (If you added the file to your microSD card by connecting the handset to your computer via USB [rather than using a dedicated microSD card reader], make sure to unmount it and disconnect the USB cable now.
3. Turn off your G1, then turn it back on by holding the Home+End keys until you see an icon popup after the T-Mobile G1 logo.
4. From the icon screen, open the keyboard and hit Alt+L. This allows you to see what’s going on during the update.
5. Press Alt+S to begin the update. Remember, the update needs to be in the root of the Micro SD card and needs to be named update.zip.
6. Once it finishes, follow the onscreen instructions and press Home+Back to finish.
7. The G1 will reboot a few times to flash different parts of the firmware.
And while you’re waiting for it to update, you can read through the official feature list.
Thanks to everyone that that sent this in.
Update: Those of you running rooted ROMs like JF1.5 check this link: http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/Unroot Thanks BenderUnit9000
Wat do i need to download,
Wat specific file do i need to change to “Update.zip”
I need help
In order to upgrade from a the previous JF 1.5 I am assuming one needs to downgrade to RC33 to do this. Where are the links for that?
Sorry, changed Step 1 to a hotlink of the zip: http://android-dls.com/files/ota/signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip
FLAWLESS! works great! gave up my root for this. barely used the root anyways. thanks for these steps. maybe you could add a link to http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/Unroot so that people who had root can unroot (if they don’t mind losing root). not sure if that was even really necessary but I couldn’t get it to work with a rooted firmware.
It KEEPS ABORTIN THE INSTALLATION!
I SUCK AT THIS AND dont kno wat to do lls

Now i just need to kno the specific file to copy to my SD so this install can be a success Plz help thank u
@SmooveSHabazz
You need to copy the whole zip file. Don’t unzip it. Just rename it to update.zip
CROSSIN FINGERS!
HERE IT GOES!
Mine keeps aborting as well. I have the update.zip copied to the root of my sdcard. Not sure whats going wrong. This seems simple enough!
@Mobilethorpe
Nevermind, problem solved! W00T!
@mobilethorpe – what was the solution it wont let me do it either
@Bfett
I had renamed my download to “update.zip”. Which technically gave it a double extension calling it update.zip.zip. Just rename it to “update”. It knows its a zip.
@Mobilethorpe
yeah i did that too.
Got it working ! Woohoo !
